A Story of Progress
Tyrone came to Friendship House several years ago while facing depression, anxiety, and a profound loss of hope.
Through our Partial Care program and pre-vocational training, he became an engaged participant and dependable worker. Friendship House has come to feel like family and home while he continues building skills and supporting the agency around him.
A new chapter
This year, Tyrone accepted a position at our Hackensack front desk. He now greets visitors with confidence, learns valuable workplace skills, and supports staff.
Progress in action
His growth can be seen in his independence, pride, and leadership. Tyrone’s journey shows what becomes possible when opportunity, support, and determination align.
We are proud of Tyrone and of every member whose hard work inspires our community.
A Message from our CEO
This past year proved what our community can do together. Your generosity powered transformative gifts, including one of $20,000 to provide no-cost, nourishing meals to our members in Hackensack. That single act of generosity fed people, yes, but it also fueled momentum. It is exactly the kind of tangible, life-changing impact we intend to build on.
This year, we are setting our sights higher, with ambitious targets that reflect both the growing needs of our members and our confidence in a community that has never stopped showing up.
— Dinorah D’Auria, Psy.D., Chief Executive Officer
“What is possible when opportunity, support, and determination come together.”
Together, we build skills for productive lives.
A year of momentum
New spaces, stronger wellness services, and meaningful program milestones expanded how Friendship House supports independence, connection, and opportunity.
Whole-person care
A generous $20,000 gift provided no-cost, nourishing meals to members in Hackensack. It removed a daily barrier so members could focus on healing, learning, and connection.
Therapeutic support
Building on the launch of Occupational Therapy, we added Speech and Language Therapy, strengthening our whole-person approach and helping members build daily independence. We're also exploring additional therapies to meet our members' growing needs.
Investing in our spaces
We invested in updating our current facilities, creating safer, more welcoming environments where members can learn, work, and connect every day.
Program progress
The Day Program Theater Initiative returned with another fully staged production. Members rehearsed for months toward a performance built on confidence, connection, and creative achievement.
